          FAQs

1.  What programs do you offer?
We offer a full day Youth/ Law Enforcement Curriculum and half day Youth/Law Enforcement Forums.  Facilitator Training is also available so that jurisdictions can sustain these efforts over time.

2.  How can my agency be trained to conduct forums?

For training support, contact us at: Contact INFO.

3.  How long is the training of trainers?
The facilitator training is a 2 day program with hands on mentoring for new trainers during the first three sessions of the Curriculum. Refresher sessions are also offered.

4. Do we have to do a facilitator training to use the curriculum?
Facilitator training, which teaches local stakeholders to use the curriculum on an ongoing basis, is not practical for every jurisdiction.  We can send a team of experienced trainers to teach the curriculum in your jurisdiction, and will assist your team in coordinating the event.

5.  How old are youth participants?
The full day curriculum is designed for ages 14-20.  Due to high demand we have recently created a modified middle school curriculum which is shortened to accommodate those students in Grades 6-8.

7.  Does my agency have to pay for all costs of the forums or trainings?
Most agencies utilize local funding and fundraising efforts to pay for the day of forum costs.

Jurisdictions in Pennsylvania are eligible for financial support thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and delinquency.  Funding is available to cover facilitator materials and training and costs associated with implementing the Curriculum for youth and officers.  Our funding does not cover food for meetings or facilitator trainings

8.  Where do I find youth participants?
The only requirement of the program is that it is voluntary for all youth participants.  Because young people or their families may have experienced prior trauma involving law enforcement, they should not be forced to participate in the program.  Similarly, partners are asked to ensure that youth are not penalized for their open communication during the event or for opting not to participate.  Youth participants in prior programs have come from partnerships with schools, recreation centers, youth serving agencies, juvenile probation, and the faith based community.  Prior justice system involvement is not required.

9.  Once trained, will our agency just be on its own?
Each new group of facilitators will conduct three trainings under the guidance and supervision of experienced trainers.  After the first three sessions, we are available for ongoing assistance and support.

10.  Where can I find forms and materials to print?
All forms are available for print on the password protected page Curriculum materials.  If you forget or haven't received the password email info@penndmc.org
